Present Perfect For and Since – Board Game

Use this present perfect for and since board game for beginners to practice this grammar point with your A2 students online or offline.

First thing’s first, this board game was designed for your online ZOOM classroom, but it works just the same as a printable in your offline classroom, too.

This board game was designed to practice 3 constructions:

  • I haven’t… for…
  • I haven’t… since…
  • It’s been… since…

Your students must reach the end of the board by creating present perfect statements describing the last time they did something and using one of the three constructions above. For each statement they are allowed to use only one of the options in the box they land on. This gives them a wide variety of statements they could create while forcing them to consider the best construction. For each box, there are typically 3 different logical ways to use the time expressions, but sometimes there are 4:

Box no. 18 – 3 weeks / I read an article about it

I haven’t brushed my teeth for three weeks.
I haven’t eaten chicken since I read an article about it.
It’s been three weeks since I ate any chicken.
It’s been a few years since I read an article about chickens.

Now, feel free to use this present perfect for and since board game in any way you see fit to practice for and since with the present perfect, but the game is more fun this way and also forces your students to practice the present perfect in its negation, which I find is always trickier than the affirmative.
