What are Zinfographics?

Zinfographics are packs of activities each containing 3 infographics you can print and pass out, project onto your classroom wall or virtual whiteboard, or share on your screen during online lessons. Each infographic introduces a problem related to the society and includes activities to discuss it with your students. Every infographic deals with a separate issue which means each one can be used independently, as a complement to your lesson plan, or simply one after another. The infographics compile information and numerical data concerning these themes.

Each Zinfographic consists of:

  • A page with the infographic and a “comprehension” box including a few questions to check your students’ overall understanding of the document;
  • One or two pages with varied speaking activities concerning the particular theme.
  • Sometimes, a supplementary activity such as a writing exercise or presentation to be prepared at home is proposed in a box.

The answers to the comprehension questions are found on page 10. You will also find a folder with the name VIRTUAL_VERSION containing the infographics as separate PDF files which you can use to more easily organize your online classes or send to your students as homework or for extra practice.

Inside Zinfographics Pack 1: Internet and Society

This pack and its activities were designed for B1 and B2 students.

Zinfographic 1 – CONSPIRACY THEORIES
Use this zinfographic to introduce conspiracy theories to your class and explore how they work. Students share their opinions and play a game in which they create their own confusing conspiracy theories.

Zinfographic 2 – SPACE TOURISM
This infographic introduces the concept of space tourism, its impact on the environment and people. Students are also presented with facts and figures from a European survey on the topic. Then, students complete speaking activities about space tourism, space exploration and future dilemmas concerning space. Finally, students will create a prospectus for a space tourism travel offer as the final activity.

Zinfographic 3 – FALSE ADVERTISING
This infographic deals with misleading advertisements and the processes and techniques used by advertisers to create them. Students complete speaking activities followed by a final activity in which they transform a collection of misleading advertising into honest and sincere advertisements.

I have been teaching English abroad since receiving my CELTA certificate in Poland in 2018. I enjoy tracking my individual students’ development but love having lessons with big groups! Now that I teach online, I am accompanied by my sidekicks Olaf, Mała, Pirate and Bandit on a regular basis.

It takes a team of 13 to create and produce this material. In order for that to continue, please think about purchasing your own subscription to ESL Expertz and encourage your colleagues to do the same. We appreciate your confidence and support!
