Present Perfect Online Pair Activity

Make assumptions about your partner using the present perfect in this present perfect online pair activity for your online classroom.

Welcome to day 2 of our Present Perfect Activities Giveaway! For day 2 we are offering a present perfect online pair activity designed for the online classroom and especially ZOOM. Use this in your online classroom to get your students to practice the present perfect to talk about past events within a specific time frame.

It’s easy to use this activity in your ZOOM classroom or any other teleconferencing application, but open enough to return to it again and again for some basic present perfect practice. It’s also a great printable! By the way, you can find many more resources of this type here.

  1. Display the PDF on your screen, or send a copy to each of your students.
  2. Put students in pairs and give them a time limit to come up with 5-10 assumptions about their partners using the present perfect tense, the images, and the time expressions on the poster.
  3. Students make assumptions about their partners, share them with each other, and earn a point for every correct assumption. If the assumption is incorrect, the partner can correct the assumption.
  4. Switch partners as many times as time permits!

I think you haven’t eaten any vegetables this week…
You’ve checked your Instagram three times today…
You haven’t watered your cactus for six months…
You haven’t had a moustache since the 90’s!

That’s mostly correct, except I’ve checked my Instagram way more than three times already today!

I have been teaching English abroad since receiving my CELTA certificate in Poland in 2018. I enjoy tracking my individual students’ development but love having lessons with big groups! Now that I teach online, I am accompanied by my sidekicks Olaf, Mała, Pirate and Bandit on a regular basis.

It takes a team of 13 to create and produce this material. In order for that to continue, please think about purchasing your own subscription to ESL Expertz and encourage your colleagues to do the same. We appreciate your confidence and support!
