Health Conversation Activity Pack
Introducing the Health Conversation Activity Pack. This activity pack offers you the chance to conduct long conversation classes (minimum 120 minutes) or to use the activities individually to fit your specific needs and objectives.
Our Conversation Activity Packs
Our conversation activity packs include several activities devoted to a single subject. A variety of types of activities are given including reading and listening comprehension, discussion questions, speaking activities, debates and task-based activities. They are designed as a single 2-3 conversation course, perfect for those long Saturday classes, but each activity can be used separately to fit your specific needs.
Health Conversation Activity Pack
This activity pack offers you the chance to conduct long conversation classes (minimum 120 minutes) or to use the activities individually to fit your specific needs and objectives.
This health conversation activity pack contains:
• a reading comprehension activity concerning trends in healthcare technology on page 2 (with corrections on page 14) followed by questions to conduct a class debate on medical innovations and technologies on page 3;
• a speaking activity on pages 4-6 concerning alternative medicine and procedures as well as home remedies;
• a set of discussion questions on pages 7 and 8 to print and cut out for your students (useful for a simple discussion activity in pairs or small groups);
• a speaking activity on page 9 concerning controversial medical procedures (each student or group chooses a subject and then prepares their arguments; the ability to choose for themselves avoids any potential cultural, religious or ethical questions for certain students);
• a funny speaking activity on page 10 concerning illnesses. Students play the role of medical researchers. Each group draws 2 random images from pages 11 and 12, and then chooses one. This image is meant to inspire them to imagine and describe a new illness and present it to the class. Because the images are rather comical, students’ responses should also be rather fun. Therefore, it is a fun and creative activity students can use to practice their humor and creativity. However, it also works an enormous amount of illness-themed and scientific vocabulary into the activity. Be more or less demanding with the descriptions depending on your group’s level;
• a vocabulary list on page 13 to distribute and analyze with your students;
