Zinfographic: Talk about Euthanasia

Use this 3-page online-friendly lesson plan to discuss the state of euthanasia in society today.

What’s in this Zinfographic?

Students will learn about and discuss euthanasia, where it’s legal, where it’s not, a bit of history, what it is and what it isn’t. There are some statistics, too! They will also briefly learn about 3 cases that made headlines.

Faced with several controversial situations, students will give their opinions on whether they believe they are justified or reasonable. Afterwards, students will imagine their own personal heavens (individually, in pairs, as a group etc.) all organized by categories.

Finally, students will write a persuasive essay with the help of 28 linking words and phrases useful for these types of discussions.

How Zinfographics work:

What are Zinfographics? They are a series of complete lesson plans about various topics designed specifically to encourage your students to discuss and interact. Each Zinfographic consists of:

  • A page with the infographic and a “comprehension” box including a few questions to check your students’ overall understanding of the document;
  • One or two pages with varied speaking activities concerning a particular theme.
  • A final task-based activity such as a writing exercise or presentation to be prepared at home or in class.

They can be used independently as conversation starters, as a complement to your lesson plan on a specific topic, or simply to break away from the usual conversation activities you can find in most textbooks.

I have been teaching English abroad since receiving my CELTA certificate in Poland in 2018. I enjoy tracking my individual students’ development but love having lessons with big groups! Now that I teach online, I am accompanied by my sidekicks Olaf, Mała, Pirate and Bandit on a regular basis.

It takes a team of 13 to create and produce this material. In order for that to continue, please think about purchasing your own subscription to ESL Expertz and encourage your colleagues to do the same. We appreciate your confidence and support!
