Just in time for Valentine’s Day, this is one of those plug and play / print and go type of things that will save you some time and make you look good doing it!

Instructions are on the PDF, but basically students read the starts to two love stories, answer some comprehension questions together, and then finish the stories on their own (or in pairs or as a group). Once students have had time to write out the ends to their stories, have students pass around their finished texts (or copy and paste in breakout rooms if on Zoom) and let them correct each other’s writings.

Finally, have them all present their stories (Story #1 first, then #2…) and vote on who has written the best, the most romantic, the saddest, etc.

You might also think about assigning an extra writing assignment for class or as homework – assign a specific type of ending to the story and have them finish it like that. Happy ending, sad, etc.

Enjoy your Valentine’s Day-themed classes this week 🙂

I have been teaching English abroad since receiving my CELTA certificate in Poland in 2018. I enjoy tracking my individual students’ development but love having lessons with big groups! Now that I teach online, I am accompanied by my sidekicks Olaf, Mała, Pirate and Bandit on a regular basis.

It takes a team of 13 to create and produce this material. In order for that to continue, please think about purchasing your own subscription to ESL Expertz and encourage your colleagues to do the same. We appreciate your confidence and support!
