Personality Traits Vocabulary Activity for A1 students

Your students have already discovered the 6-8 personality traits the textbook writers were able to smush into an activity at the top of a page, but you know they need some more! Use this personality traits vocabulary activity as a discovery tool for personality traits with your beginners (A0-A1 students). Every personality on the right is paired with a contextual description, helping your students to discover and integrate the vocabulary. For some adjectives that are a bit similar, we have changed the subjects in order for your students to more easily make the right decisions.

As a printable

  1. Pass out a copy of the PDF to each pair.
  2. Give students the time to read through the descriptions and ask any questions.
  3. Pairs will then match the descriptions on the left to the adjectives on the right.
  4. Come back as a class and correct any mistakes. Or, have pairs share their work together to self-correct. Be sure the adjectives have been well understood, and answer any questions.
  5. Pairs will then choose 2 adjectives for each of the characters at the bottom of the page and present them to the class.

Online

  1. Display the PDF and share your screen. Give your students some time to look at the descriptions and ask any questions.
  2. Send the PDF to all of your students. I usually do this by adding it to the ZOOM chat.
  3. Put students in breakout rooms in pairs. Tell them to match the descriptions on the left to the adjectives on the right. Pass from group to group to answer any questions.
  4. Bring students back to the main room and go one by one, correcting the descriptions.
  5. Put students back into breakout rooms to find 2 adjectives for each character at the bottom of the page.
  6. Bring them back to the main group and present them to the class.
