For the initiates… Here’s how you can use this worksheet as a mixed conditionals writing activity for your intermediate (B1) or upper-intermediate (B2) students. You can use this in your online as well as offline classes. For online classes, you can display the PDF and share your screen or make it available to download for your students.

The idea is simple, and you can use this mixed conditionals activity as a class, in small groups or in pairs. One student is tasked to respond to one of the SMS messages on the worksheet by writing a response in the chat. Once submitted, the others must match the response to the original text message. The first to guess correctly earns a point along with the message writer (plus a bonus point if they used the third conditional in their response). The one who guessed correctly will now be the one to write a response to a different message in the chat… Play as many times as you want, even if messages are repeated!
