After doing a few discussions in a row with some heavier subject matter, I lightened it up for my discussion groups this week with a topic everyone can get behind. Coffee. At first I thought the history of coffee would be good enough, but I found this great video with Michael Pollen about how the addiction to caffeine has completely rewritten history in just a few hundred years. It’s absolutely fascinating, but I think the language and content is dense and should be used only for your advanced students if you want to have a good discussion.
