Family Members Vocabulary Exercise

Use this family members vocabulary exercise repeatedly to get your students comfortable with family vocabulary in English.

Yes, it’s more or less a fill-in-the-blank style activity, but this one is pretty! Don’t print that Microsoft word document with the family members vocabulary exercise when you could show your students this!

Some suggestions for how to use the activity:

  1. Make it a race! The first student to write down all the answers (correctly) wins.
  2. Jeopardy mode: Name a family member (aunt, uncle, grandmother, etc.) and the first student to find a box with the correct description earns a point.
  3. One-by-one: Students take turns answering each box, then describe that family member to the class (if they have one).
  4. Homework: pffft…

I have been teaching English abroad since receiving my CELTA certificate in Poland in 2018. I enjoy tracking my individual students’ development but love having lessons with big groups! Now that I teach online, I am accompanied by my sidekicks Olaf, Mała, Pirate and Bandit on a regular basis.

It takes a team of 13 to create and produce this material. In order for that to continue, please think about purchasing your own subscription to ESL Expertz and encourage your colleagues to do the same. We appreciate your confidence and support!
