Conversation Activity Pack: Animals
This activity pack will allow you to conduct several hours of conversation classes or lessons on the subject of cats, dogs and other pets.
Activities included:
• a listening comprehension activity: “We share our home with…” on page 2, and questions for a discussion and debate about house pets on page 3;
• a debate activity comparing cats, dogs and parakeets on page 4;
• a speaking activity: “Howmuch do you know about animals?” on page 5;
• a list of discussion questions and quotes to create a dialogue with a partner or group on pages 6 and 7;
• a speaking activity: “The Ideal Companion” to complete in pairs and present as a class on pages 8-11;
• a debate activity around provocative ideas concerning animals: “For or Against?” on page 12;
• a creative task: “ANIMALVERTISING” on page 13 (the activity includes cards to cut out);
• a vocabulary list on page 14 and an exercise to discover common idioms which use animals on page 15;
• corrections on pages 16-17.
