A0 Activity: Pronounce Simple Phrases

Pronounce simple phrases, practice basic structures, and give your students more confidence in their blossoming language abilities.

Your students are now at the stage where they can put several words in some sensible order. Great! But the pronunciation needs a bit of work. More pronunciation activities will be coming, but you can get started with this easy one. On the worksheet, students will find some simple phrases that will be useful for their English speaking encounters. The goal of the activity is simply to pronounce simple phrases together as a class.

The activity can be done as a class. Distribute the worksheet to the learners. In turn, each learner selects a sentence from the worksheet, and if they pronounce it correctly out loud, they earn two points. If the pronunciation is not perfect, you can give only one point. Each sentence already pronounced is checked off and cannot be chosen again. When all the sentences have been pronounced, count the points. The student with the most points wins.

I have been teaching English abroad since receiving my CELTA certificate in Poland in 2018. I enjoy tracking my individual students’ development but love having lessons with big groups! Now that I teach online, I am accompanied by my sidekicks Olaf, Mała, Pirate and Bandit on a regular basis.

It takes a team of 13 to create and produce this material. In order for that to continue, please think about purchasing your own subscription to ESL Expertz and encourage your colleagues to do the same. We appreciate your confidence and support!
