Well, Say Something! – Present Perfect
Use this online friendly discussion skill-building game where students respond to phrases pulled from random conversations and practice present perfect while they’re at it!
How to use this activity?
On the left hand side there are 6 different phrases pulled from random conversations. On the right there are 6 different grammatical or context constraints to guide the students to use the present perfect in real-world and practical contexts. This is so much better than a textbook grammar exercise… Make a question and ask your partner… blah blah blah…
I forgot to mention the numbers next to the cards. They go from 1-6. You know what else goes from 1-6? A die. Get two of them. Or click here to use these simple online dice. The die on the left tells you the phrase. The die on the right tells you the constraint. That gives you 36 different combinations if you do the math.
Screen share the PDF, give your students a few minutes to familiarize themselves with the material. Roll the dice! Tell your students the combination, 3 and 4, 5 and 1, 6 and 2, etc. Give them 1 minute to write a response in the chat. Or 3 minutes to write as many as they can come up with. Whatever you want to do! Vote on the best, the funniest, etc. Have students correct each other’s responses.
