SMS Game: Micro Halloween Writing Activity

Get ready for a spooktacular time with our ESL Halloween Writing Activity! How to Play:

1. Display the Messages: Project the text messages on a screen or distribute printed copies to the students.
2. Set a Time Limit: Give students a short time limit to think of their response to one of the SMS messages.
3. Sharing Responses: Students take turns reading aloud or typing their responses in the chat. Other students must guess which Halloween message is being responded to.
4. Scoring: If a student guesses correctly, they earn a point. Continue this process through all students each round.
5. Rounds: Play as many rounds as you’d like! The student with the most points at the end wins!

Additional Gameplay Options:

• Group Discussions: After a round, have students discuss their favorite Halloween memories related to their responses.
• Finish The Conversation: Put students in pairs and give them a time limit for the activity. Either choose an SMS for all the pairs or let them choose their own to begin with. Then, they must create a long-form SMS conversation between them. After time is up, they can then share it with the class.
