Tell A Story With Irregular Verbs
Choose a fun prompt and then tell a story with irregular verbs. Students present their stories to the class and vote on the best!
It’s day three of our 15 days of irregular verb activities and we’ve got a storytelling activity for all levels. Students will choose a story prompt and then tell a story with irregular verbs. Yay!

How it works
Choose an appropriate level for your group. Display the PDF, or send the file to your students. Put students in pairs or small groups. Choose one of the prompts and then give your students time to write their story in 5 actions. If you are truly working with beginners, give them the following prompts to help organize their ideas.

- After that,…
- Finally,…
Once all the groups have finished, they present their stories to the class to vote on the best, the funniest, the most absurd, the most probable, etc… You choose the criteria, but only if it makes sense for your group’s level.
This activity forces your students to use the tell a story with irregular verbs, and gives them a useful tool to remember the ones meant for their level. The story prompts are open enough to create a story, but closed enough to give your students limits and thus focus their ideas. They can also be pretty fun stories for your adult learners to tell!
