Present Perfect with Question Tags
Help your students feel more comfortable and fluent with statements that use the present perfect with question tags.
Welcome to day 7 of our present perfect activities giveaway! Today we’ve got an activity where students will practice the present perfect with question tags. If they’ve ever seen a movie or TV series, they’ve run into the “He’s gone and done something dramatic …hasn’t he?” question tag following a present perfect statement before. This is a great way for your students to practice this type of English fluency in a fun and engaging way.
How to use it?
First thing’s first, this game was designed for your online ZOOM classroom, but it works just as well as a printable in your offline classroom, too.
Display the PDF or send a copy to your students. Put your students in teams or pairs, or let them play individually as a class. Choose one of the cards on the worksheet and read it out loud to your students. Give them a time limit (1-2 minutes) to come up with a response and write it in the chat. Students present their responses to the class and you can vote on who has the “best” response.
Another way to play? Give all your students 1-2 minutes to respond to any of the cards on the worksheet. They will then take turns reading their responses. The rest of the class must guess which card they are responding to. The correct respondent is awarded a point each time.
Nicole hasn’t been fired, has she?
No, she hasn’t. She’s just away on vacation this week.
Yes, she has, and good riddance! She was a poor worker.
Now, feel free to use this present perfect activity in any way you see fit and if you come up with any great ideas, be sure to share them in the comments below.
