Me too! Back from Vacation Speaking Game
KID FRIENDLY! (But could also be used with adults)
Here’s an easy “Back from Vacation” speaking game you can play with your beginners (A1-A2) at the beginning of the new semester. It plays like every other Me Neither! speaking game. Play in pairs, small groups or, even better, as a whole class! The activity has 12 affirmative and 12 negative past simple sentences about summer vacation. Start by reading one aloud, and then asking the question in the middle, “And you?” while calling on a student. The student must choose between one of the four responses, “Me, too,” “Me neither,” “Yes, I did,” and “No, I didn’t.” The one who asked the question decides if they are telling the truth or not. If they get it right, they earn a point. If they get it wrong, the responder gets a point. The responder, if they lie, should give the correct information at the end.
Example 1:
Grace read a new book every week. And you, Paweł?
Me too.
Hm. I think you’re lying.
No, it’s true. I read a lot this summer.
Example 2:
Clara didn’t swim in the ocean. And you, Marie?
Yes, I did.
Hm. I think you’re lying. Didn’t you say you went to Germany?
You’re right, I lied. I visited my uncle in Germany.
