The Temp Agency
Use this game to challenge your students. In teams, they will compete to create as many correct sentences as possible to give work-related advice to the people presented on the cards.
How to use this activity
Display the poster and assign score cards accordingly (Team 1, Team 2…). Choose a card to start and read it aloud to the students. Set a time limit (60-90 seconds) for students to respond to the question by using the verbs found on their score card. For more advanced students, let them come up with as many answers as possible within the time limit. Each time a word has been used, mark it off on their score card. Tally up the phrases at the end which are grammatically correct and award points accordingly. If a word was crossed off but used incorrectly, the cross stays but no points are awarded.
The point is to give career advice to these candidates based on the information in each box.
For example, for the first card and the score card for Team 1: Tom likes computers, but is not a hard worker. What should he do?
– Team 1: He should be an artist who works with AI computer software to make images.
– Team 2: He should be a shop assistant because when he has no customers, he can play on his computer.
The word artist (3 points) and shop assistant (3 points) are crossed off and can no longer be used.
Play as many rounds as you want, or play to a time limit. The team or student with the most points at the end wins.
