Textbooks usually have something good for the discovery portion of the lesson plan, but are very often lacking in the practice portion. That’s where we come in! If your beginners have learned to introduce someone, then this activity is the next step! On the worksheet students will find six different characters and a number of simple phrases one can use to introduce someone. They all use the basic verbs be, live, speak and have.
Give your students some time, either individually or in pairs (preferably in pairs so that there can be some dialogue between them), to choose 4 phrases to describe each character. Then, teams take turns introducing one of their characters by presenting their 4 chosen phrases. The rest of the class must decide who they are talking about. This activity makes it easy for beginners to introduce someone!
You can take this a step further by displaying a random person you found on the internet and ask students to do the same thing! Even better, find a few people on the internet and play the same game with the new characters. This time, students must come up with their own phrases.
