Comparison Game: Love and Romance
Practice complicated comparisons in context. Students take turns being the love guru while others ask questions about what to do for romantic occasions.
Today we’re talking about love in English. Cupid beware!
My one year wedding anniversary recently flew by. I wish I had used this activity with my students beforehand… Maybe I would’ve come up with something better than sushi and snooker!
This activity is fairly open, but it’s based on other similar comparison games I’ve made before and shared on the site. This activity can be accomplished in pairs, groups, or as a class. Students take turns as the love guru who is ready to answer all of your questions concerning romantic occasions.
The other students ask the love guru questions about gifts or dates inspired by the images. They should give the love guru at least two options to choose from. Then, the love guru must decide which of them is the better/best option and explain why. Each time an image is used, check the box so that it cannot be used again. Have students take turns being the love guru. The love guru can also ask follow-up questions!
“Where should I take my girlfriend on a second date? Should we go to a football match or a wine tasting?”
“Does she like sports?”
“I m not sure…”
“Be safe and take her to a wine tasting! It will be quieter and you can get to know each other better. Ask her if she likes football…”
