Irregular Verbs Poster Activity – Spend $1 Million

Use this irregular verb poster activity as a gamified way to practice irregular verbs with your beginner, intermediate and advanced students. Spend $1 million and tell the class about your amazing weekend!

It’s day four of our 15 days of irregular verb activities and we’ve got an irregular verbs poster activity ready to download. How do we get students to use their irregular verbs in a new and interesting way? Turn it into a gameshow. Students must talk about their weekend (real or imagined) while spending $1 million on the game board. The less frequent the irregular verb in the English language, the more money it costs!

How it works

Choose an appropriate level for your group. Display the PDF, or send the file to your students. Put students in pairs or small groups, or they can complete the activity individually. Tell your students they have $1 million to spend on their weekend. They will then use that money to buy the irregular verbs which will make up what they did on the weekend. Give them a time limit to complete the task. Students then present their weekends to the class who will vote on the best one.

I have been teaching English abroad since receiving my CELTA certificate in Poland in 2018. I enjoy tracking my individual students’ development but love having lessons with big groups! Now that I teach online, I am accompanied by my sidekicks Olaf, Mała, Pirate and Bandit on a regular basis.

It takes a team of 13 to create and produce this material. In order for that to continue, please think about purchasing your own subscription to ESL Expertz and encourage your colleagues to do the same. We appreciate your confidence and support!
