Teacher’s Pet – Talk about memories from school
This interactive PDF was designed to get your students talking about their memories from school while discovering useful vocabulary related to school and education.
How to use this activity?
The task is meant to take up about 30 minutes of class time with your beginner students. However, you can use it with more advanced students or groups as long as you expect more detail.
Do this activity as a class or in small groups. Distribute the PDF to your students or display it on your screen. Students take turns reading a memory and then organizing them between “Totally” and “Not at all” depending on whether or not they have a similar memory. Encourage students to elaborate as much as possible.
I was often called to the principal’s office.
“Not at all”
“So, you were a very well-behaved student?”
“No, I just never got caught!”
Go further
You can prolong the discussion by asking your students a few questions after the activity is over.
- In your opinion, what makes an ideal student?
- Why do you think students misbehave at school?
- Why are some students more well-behaved than others?
- What can schools or teachers do to keep kids interested in their schoolwork?
- What one change would you make to the education system?
