Calendar and Clock Game – Hobbies & Free Time
With this PDF activity, practice numbers, time and dates with your students while reviewing useful phrases to talk about hobbies and free time.
How to use this activity
Students play individually. Display the activity and call out a number. Give your students some time to respond to the card in the chat.
- The opinion cards are only there to generate a quick discussion, so no points are awarded.
- The knowledge cards award 2 points to any student who correctly answers.
- The puzzle cards award 3 points to the first student to answer correctly.
Play until all the cards have been used. The student with the most points at the end wins.
For example:
Card 1 (opinion) – What is the best time of day to go for a run? – “For me, morning is the best time of day to go for a run because I feel motivated and energized afterwards!” (zero points awarded)
Card 5 (knowledge) – What season is National Take a Hike day in America? – “National Take a Hike day is in November, so it takes place in autumn.” (two points awarded)
Card 6 (puzzle) – Sandy started reading a book in February. She finished it 5 months later. When did she finish her book? – “I think she finished her book in June” (zero points awarded – she finished it in July.)
