Never Enough! Basic Adverbs

Help A1 students master adverbs with this printable and online-friendly interactive PDF from ESL Expertz. This basic adverbs speaking activity promotes natural language use and enhances speaking skills through fun, interactive tasks.

Mastering adverbs can be tricky for A1 learners, but with this basic adverbs speaking activity, students will boost their fluency while having fun! Created by ESL Expertz, this printable and online-friendly interactive PDF is designed to help students apply adverbs in real-life conversations. Students complete 8 out of 10 sentences prompts with various adverbs, using each one only once.

They then engage in a lively speaking activity where they present their answers or find common responses among classmates. This activity ensures that learners not only understand adverbs but can also use them naturally in conversation. Perfect for the classroom or online learning environments, this activity encourages communication and helps learners gain confidence in using adverbs in everyday speech.

There are just so many grammar points, there’s no way to keep up with all of them. But I’m trying! I ran into another problem recently with an A1 going on A2 student of mine. We started looking at adverbs, and she had the idea, she had the basics, but putting it all together in actual natural spoken language wasn’t going very well. The fill-in-the-blank practice worksheet from the internet was a breeze, but it kept coming out funny when she was trying to use them. That’s when I had to come up with my own basic adverbs speaking activity.

So I said, “Tell me something you do … quickly, but your husband does … slowly.” Ah, the husband/wife comparison in ESL classrooms never gets old. For some reason, everyone loves comparing themselves to their spouse in a different language. So fun! But anyway, it seemed to work. That inspired me to come up with this little speaking activity right here, with the same premise of “Tell me something someone does…”

Have you already moved on to comparative adverbs? We’ve got just the thing.
