Why Financial Literacy in the US Sucks
I know that I took a class in micro economics in high school. I know I did. I remember the teacher very kindly telling me off when I snuck outside for a cigarette. But what we learned and how to apply it to the real world, I couldn’t have told you when I was 18. A pity, too, because maybe I would have made some better decisions along the way!
Discuss financial literacy as it pertains to a teenager’s education, especially in America. Are these problems prevalent in your neck of the woods? How could a school do better?
Begin with a warm-up question: Who taught you about money? Is there a lesson that sticks out?
In between the two viewings ask: What did you learn about money in school?
