Online Friendly ESL Discussion Worksheet: Ants
How many ants roam the earth? Find out more with this ESL discussion worksheet on ants and discuss literary analogies.
Today you and your students will be talking about a recent study which counted the number of ants on our planet. 1… 2… skip a few… 99… 20,000,000,000,000,000. That’s twenty quadrillion to be exact.
If you like warmers (it’s basically my favorite part of the lesson), ask your students to list as a group as many insects or bugs as they can think of. Ask them to type their propositions in the chat for a bit of spelling practice 😉 Or you can play the alphabet game with the help of google images and this link >>
After the warm-up, start by distributing the PDF to your students, and then watch the video below once or twice. The link is also on the PDF. The discussion portion is a little bit different than usual. This time we have taken quotes about ants from literary sources which use them and their behaviors as analogies for human beings. Students discuss what the quotes mean to them and give their reactions.
