Halloween Traditions and Decorations

Get your students to talk about Halloween traditions with a conversational mind map for all levels!

How does it work?

  • Distribute or pass out a copy of the mind map along with a copy of the word list to each individual, pair, or group. If you are working in a classroom with a larger group, you can cut out the words from the word list and scatter them around the mind map.
  • Working alone, in pairs, a group or as a class, students must organize the words into the different boxes on the mind map by creating sentences that justify their choices. Have them draw a card at random or choose from those that are visible.

Naturally, they may or may not be in agreement with their peers… Perfect. Let the conversation commence! Make yourself small and quiet until everyone has had the chance to give their opinion or thought on the matter.

I have been teaching English abroad since receiving my CELTA certificate in Poland in 2018. I enjoy tracking my individual students’ development but love having lessons with big groups! Now that I teach online, I am accompanied by my sidekicks Olaf, Mała, Pirate and Bandit on a regular basis.

It takes a team of 13 to create and produce this material. In order for that to continue, please think about purchasing your own subscription to ESL Expertz and encourage your colleagues to do the same. We appreciate your confidence and support!
