Today you and your students will be talking about one company’s fight against the housing crisis in California where there are tens of thousands of homeless and home insecure people have trouble finding and keeping affordable housing. One company, SoLa Impact hopes to change that by constructing affordable housing in overlooked and under-invested neighborhoods with private investor money and efficient construction techniques.

If you like warmers (it’s basically my favorite part of the lesson), ask your students to define “home” before they begin the class. Or, ask them to explain what “affordable housing” means to them where they live.
